Electrical Systems Engineer
Astro Digital designs, builds, and operates a diverse range of small satellite systems supporting space-based turnkey missions for several business applications, including earth observation, communications, in-orbit demonstrations, risk reduction, science, and exploration. Astro Digital is headquartered in Santa Clara, California with infrastructure around the globe.

Position Summary:
We are currently seeking an Electrical Engineer to work with hardware engineering teams and suppliers to manage the manufacturing and flight readiness of harnesses throughout Astro Digital. Will also assist in board checkout, as well as advance our designs in house design of automated test systems. Create and maintain harness specifications, manage vendors, and ensure harnesses are ready for competitive schedules. Primary Duties:
  • Work with electrical and mechanical engineering teams and external suppliers to obtain relevant external wiring data.
  • Create and maintain harness specifications to include pin outs, wire gauge, and appropriate shielding.
  • Manage harness bills of materials and new/existing inventory
  • Work with tool suppliers on integrations to streamline the processes and to improve harness design data quality with Altium
  • Complete incoming quality checks and manage harness rework activities
  • Power Systems electronics checkout.
  • Participate in the design and manufacturing of a next-gen aerospace engineering effort
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's of Science in the areas of Electrical, Aerospace, or other related fields OR 2+ year's experience in avionics or similar military MOS.
  • Deep understanding of electrical systems
  • Experience in harness design and/or manufacturing (aerospace, automotive, or military)
  • Ability to interface with customers to receive relevant data
  • Experience managing vendors and fast-paced schedules
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Highest level of attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to identify, design, and see through manufacture of last minute harnesses
  • Ability to work outside of formal job description with mechanical assembly as needed
  • Eagerness to grow with a consistently innovative engineering team

This position requires access to export-controlled commodities, technical data, technology, software, and services. U.S. citizenship, U.S. legal permanent resident status, or protected person status under 22 CFR §120.15 and 8 U.S.C. §1324b(a)(3) is required.
